Digital Switchover
Wednesday 4th April 2012 (retuning possible from 6am) If you don't retune you will lose most BBC TV.
Wednesday 18th April 2012 (retuning possible from 6am) Retune essential even if retuned since the 4th.
Equipment that may be affected
All Freeview (Digital) equipped TVs, recorders & boxes that use an aerial will require retuning. The instruction book that was supplied with your equipment will help or I can retune for you.
If you don't have a TV and/or recorder capable of receiving Freeview you will need to upgrade or get a Freeview box. Some old Freeview TV, recorders & boxes may not work but most will be OK.
VHS recorder - will be playback only. Although it is possible to use a Freeview box to record I don't recommend this as it will be "user unfriendly".
DVD recorders - Some old recorders do not have Freeview fitted.
Freesat, Sky or Virgin Media - not affected but you may have another TV using an aerial.
TopUp TV or BT Vision - needs retuning as it uses your aerial.
Aerial - most people will not need a new aerial. There is no such thing as a "digital aerial". The signal from most transmitters will be 10 times stronger after switchover.
I can supply and/or install suitable TVs, Recorders & Freeview Boxes. I can also arrange aerial work.
This information is for the Crystal Palace, Reigate & Cane Hill transmitters. Dates on other transmitters may vary although the other information above is similar.
